Thrive Lydia Generation was born from a journey of courage, faith, and transformation. In 2014, our founder, Adenike Alade, moved to the Netherlands with her husband and children in pursuit of academic goals. Like many highly skilled migrant women, she arrived with experience, ambition, and hope, while also facing the challenge of starting over in a new country.
Her journey revealed a reality shared by many migrant women: talent is often not the problem, but the barriers around language, integration, career progression, and recognition of skills can make the path forward difficult. What began as a personal transition became a calling to create a space where women could rebuild with dignity, confidence, and purpose.
Our name is inspired by Lydia of Thyatira in Acts 16. Lydia was a woman of strength, wisdom, generosity, and confidence. A businesswoman who created room for others and responded boldly to new possibilities. She reflects the spirit we want every woman to carry: grounded, capable, courageous, and ready to step into her influence.
From this inspiration, Thrive Lydia Generation was created with and for highly skilled migrant women. Together with our advisors, board members, coaches, facilitators, and volunteers, we support women as they navigate new environments, rebuild careers, and grow personally and professionally.
We believe thriving is more than employment. It is about self-reinvention, integration, learning, belonging, and meaningful participation in society. Through coaching, training, networking, language support, and empowerment programmes, we help women strengthen their confidence, expand their opportunities, and move forward with purpose.
Self-reinvention refers to the process of intentionally and proactively changing or transforming oneself, often with the aim of improving one's life, pursuing new goals, or adapting to a different set of circumstances.
Through the Thrive Program, we guide you in navigating and integrating into your new environment, fostering a sense of belonging and cultural connection.
The Thrive Program helps you gain the competencies and confidence you need for personal and professional growth.
The Thrive Program connects you with visionary, supportive, and skilled people through unique networking opportunities.
